Colour Q Sketch

Today I have a Colour Q Sketch!  This is the first time I have participated in one of the challenges.  I combined it, again, with the Retro Sketches challenge.  The colors I used are Pear Pizzazz, Perfect Plum, Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White.

The Colour ! Sketch site is http://colourq.blogspot.com/ and Retro Sketches is http://retrosketches.blogspot.com/

Below are the sketches and my card!  I used the Happy Congratulations stamp set for the sentiment!  I might use this a a graduation card for a dear friends daughter!  LOVE THE COLORS....

This is a really clean and simple card.  I added the candy dots (from the brights collection) to kind of balance it off.  I love the stacking buttons!  I ran some Bermuda Bay 1/4" ribbon through the bottom button and glued it down and then threaded some white through the top button and glued it down....I LOVE THE LOOK!  My base is Whisper White with a Pear Pizzazz square 3 1/2" by 3 1/2".  I then added a layer of designer paper from the Regals Stack in Perfect Plum.  I used the 2 1/2" punch to punch a Whisper White circle and then cut the size down in Bermuda Bay with my Circle Framelits.  The sentiment is stamped in Tangerine Tango on a 1" strip of paper which I made into a banner with the corner of a square punch....matted it on Tangerine Tango!  I think it is pretty darn cute!

Here's to a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!!!!

My Birthday WEEKEND!

I turned 49 yesterday (Sunday) and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!  On Saturday we drove down our mountain to Walnut Creek, California.  My husband and I took our two youngest kiddos to the Cal Berkeley game...they won in TWELVE innings.  We left the game before it was over because we had dinner reservations at a SWANK restaurant called The Metro in Lafayette...IT WAS DELICIOUS and SO MUCH FUN!!!

On Sunday...all of my kids, my husband, my sister-n-laws, a girlfriend, a boyfriend and maybe? girlfriend joined me in celebrating at a San Francisco Giants baseball game!  I HAD A BLAST!!!

This picture was taken at the end of the game by a random person walking by....it is when I realized my eleven year old, Adam, WASN'T there.  Talk about PANICKED!!!!

Here he is in a previous picture.....right in the center...NOT looking at the camera!  My husband found him at the exit!  He realized he was following the WRONG people and found a security guard!!! He was so FRIGHTENED!  I just prayed the entire time were looking for him...and then prayed a pray of THANK YOU! when we found him!
I'll get back to creating this week so be sure to come back and check in!!

Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge

OKAY...OKAY....I know....ANOTHER SKETCH CHALLENGE!!!  I am really finding that these challenges are a great way to get those creative juices flowing!  NO...I won't always be doing sketches, but I do plan on participating in three different ones for a while.  I hope you like them!

Here is the sketch that Create with Connie and Mary have challenged us with this week.  Their blog is here  http://www.createwithconnieandmary.com/create-with-connie-and-mary/

The colors used in this card are Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Soft Sky, Old Olive and Whisper White.  I punched the flower out with the Pansy punch, in a couple of different Daffodil Delight designer papers, cut them apart and adhered them to same flower punched in Daffodil Delight cardstock.  The center is punched with the 3/4" circle punch and embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder.  When I adhered the center I inverted it so I would have a bit of a different look then the Soft Sky cardstock layer that was embossed with the same folder.  I added some Linen Thread, a button and some Bakers Twine which finishes it off NICELY!

Here are close up shots of the Pansy flower and the Linen Thread....I love how they turned out!

....and FINALLY...the inside of the card!

I am off to a Cal Berkeley baseball game on Saturday and a San Francisco Giants game on Sunday... so I won't be back until Monday!  Be sure to check back to see what's going on!!

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!!

Retro Sketch Challenge

This week I am really LOVING these challenges!  I am going to try to participate weekly if I can!  Today I made a card for Retro Sketches Challenge.  It was fun to make and came together quickly.  I would love your feedback on if you enjoy the sketches...so be sure to leave a comment!

I am using the new Stampin' Up 2014-2016 In Colors....WHICH I LOVE!!!!

Here is the challenge sketch that I followed.  SIMPLE with so many possibilities.  Check out the other entries here...

http://retrosketches.blogspot.com/

....and here is my take on the sketch!  Hope you like it!

The new In-Colors are so RICH!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!!  I used the Perfect Pennants stamp set for the sentiment.  The flowers are made with the Itty  Bitty Punch Shapes punches (which are RETIRING).  I use them SO OFTEN...I am a bit sad...but excited to try the new goodies that are coming out!    I love to do something inside...I think it adds so much to a card!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge

One of my downlines, Stacy, posted a card she had made for a Freshly Made Sketches challenge....she INSPIRED me to give it a try.  Stacy's blog is http://happydaysstampin.blogspot.com/  Check it out when you have time!

Today I am sharing the card I made for this weeks sketch.  My plan is to start participating in some challenges and have some challenges on my blog....BABY STEPS!!!

Here is the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Their blog is  http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/ - take a moment to go there and see other cards that have been submitted for the challenge.
Here is the card I made for the challenge.  I am giving it to my husband...JUST FOR FUN!  The sentiment stamp "You are the LOVE of my life...you are the cherry to my sundae!", is one I created with the new Circle Monogram Photopolymer stamp (item# 132851)I LOVE IT!!! (psst...I have more of them to share)!  The colors I used are Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Real Red and Basic Black.  The other stamp sets I used are Gorgeous Grunge and Itty Bitty Banners (inside sentiment).  I punched cherries, using the Cupcake Builder punch, from RED GLIMMER PAPER, added some Candy Dots, Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon and Basic Rhinestones for FUN and dimension.

To the left is the sentiment UP CLOSE and to the right is the inside of the card!

I really had FUN with this card!  A sketch is a great tool...it helps you put together a card (or scrapbook page) QUICKLY!

I leave you with these thoughts today...

Have you ever wondered which hurts the most: saying something and wishing you had not, or saying nothing, and wishing you had?

HELLO

I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Mother's Day.  I went to Modesto to visit my mom.  She had fallen and is so sore she can't get out of bed.  It is so hard to watch you parents age and not be able to do things.  I'm glad I went and was able to spend some time with her!

Today's card is one we made at my workshop last night!  It is a clean and simple card.

I have seen this sun on so many different blogs....I decided to give it a try.  I paired the colors Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay and Whisper White.  The rays of the sun are made with the banner punch that ALL of my gals got FREE during Sale-a-bration.  (It's in the new catalog too...YIPPEE!!)  I used Polka Dot Parade designer paper as well as a piece from the Brights Paper Stack.  I punched out eleven banners and adhered them to the back of a 1 3/4" circle...it doesn't make it all around but 12 is too many...and the open space is covered by the sentiment.  After adhering the banners to the circle I punched another circle (also in Daffodil Delight) and glued it to the back.  I used both sides of each designer paper and made a pattern.  I think it would also be REALLY CUTE with all polka dots or chevron stripes.  When the sun was complete I attached it to the Whisper White cardstock with dimensionals.  The sentiment is from the Four You stamp set.  I added some Basic Rhinestones for a little bling...(Candy Dots would be cute too!)  Quick, simple, clean and cute card!

Have a TERRIFIC TUESDAY!!!

Paper Pumpkin

I joined Paper Pumpkin (Stampin' Ups' monthly kit) so I could see what it is all about.  Here is the starter kit....looking forward to seeing what I get this month!  Follow along to see if you want to give it a try.  I am going to show you what Stampin' Up suggests and ways to change it up a bit!

This is the Stampin' Up card...

This kit came with enough product to make four cards.  It included two stamps...the sentiment and the grunge dots...buttons, stickers, pre-cut designer paper and cardstock.  I really like the colors!

Here is my version....I added some Candy Dots for dimension.  I also cut circles out of the centers of the starburst stickers to make them look like cogs.  I then used that center to add color in a couple of other spots by cutting it in half.  I tied a bow in the button and an extra piece of cardstock (as a mat) to brighten it up at bit.  I LOVE how it turned out!!

This month is a CRAZY month for me....birthdays, mothers day, all of the end of school activities...so I will probably post just two or three times a week.  Be sure to check back though...so you don't miss anything!!!

I leave you with this thought....

Scalloped Tag Topper Punch THANK YOU TREAT!

Today I am sharing a treat I made for the nurses at our local hospital.  I made it with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch!  You simply cut a 2" X 6" piece of cardstock, score it in the landscaped position at 2 1/2" and 3 1/2", punch each end with the Tag Topper Punch (LOVE THIS), use glue dots or double sided tape to attach some chocolate kisses....FUN, SIMPLE and TASTY!!

SIMPLE and CUTE!!! I even enlisted the help of my nine year old...she put dimensionals on ALL of the circle "THANKS MUCH" tags while I put Basic Pearls on all of the flowers....SIXTY OF THEM!!!  It's ALWAYS more FUN with a HELPER!!

Thank a NURSE this week!!

Teacher Appreciate Week

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!! Hope it is a FUN day for you...and that you might find time to enjoy a MARGARITA!!!  This week is Teacher Appreciation Week so I am sharing a card that I made for Kate and Adam's teachers!

At first I was going to use the Dictionary background stamp....but then...my mind read You make the WORLD a better PLACE...(from the Starburst Sayings)  and thought....World background stamp!  I used the Starburst Framelit and the On Film Framelit.  I REALLY LOVE the On Film framelit....I have visions for it and Christmas cards...can't wait!  Perhaps Christmas in July????  I used the Apothecary Accent framelit to gift card holder.  I little ribbon, some candy dots and some Glimmer paper and VIOLA -- It's FINISHED!!!

It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge!
