Scarecrow and Black Cat

Hey everyone!  Hope you are enjoying your three day weekend!  I am having a blast!  I played in my workshop today and LOVED IT!   It's always so relaxing for me to go out and create!  I've been wanting to try the new Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlit in the new Holiday Catalog...PAGE 11.  There have been so many cute things be made with it...LOVE THEM ALL...and I will be sharing, but I really wanted to come up with my own creations...and this morning a SCARECROW and BLACK CAT popped into my head!!

I just love how they came together...especially my scarecrow!  My brain is on overload...definitely sleeping with a notebook by my bed tonight!

I know it's a bit early for Halloween...but sometimes you just have to listen to your brain...and do what it says!

  2. Can you tell me what punches you used for the eyes. Great job, and thank you for your help!

    1. Hi Betsy...I used the 1/2" Circle punch. I punched it once and then put it back in and punched it again to make it oval shaped. I did the same for the pupil. Then I punched the eyelid in black and just cut it in half...so I had one for both eyes! Thanks for the question!

  3. How did you do the scarecrow's hair, made out of what and how did you attach it and put it together?

    1. Hi Glenda...I cut the edge of a 8-9 inch piece of burlap ribbon and then "unthreaded" the rest of the ribbon. The individual pieces of thread I folded in half and made a knot around the handle...the rest of the ribbon (the frayed piece I wrapped around the bottom of the hand and adhered with sticky tape...it's really a decoration...unless you don't care if they have to tear it to get it open! Thanks for the question!

    2. I am loving your scarecrow. I am struggling with the hair. I read your reply to Glenda, but can't get it to look anywhere near yours. I am a visual learner, so I can't visualize this part - The individual pieces of thread I folded in half and made a knot around the handle...the rest of the ribbon (the frayed piece I wrapped around the bottom of the hand . . . How did you hide the 'handle' of the curvy box?

    3. Hi Donna...I separated the handles and I tied slip knots on each handle...then just kind of pushed them down a bit. I hope that makes sense...I didn't hide them...they are what you are looking at with the hair tied to it....let me know if you get it...if not...I can make another one and take a picture of that step!

    1. Thanks Barb! I made the eyes with the 1/2" circle punch. I punched a circle then punched it again into a pointy oval...did the same with the pupil. It iris is just a circle and the eyelid is a circle cut in about a third....hope that helps!

    1. Hi Jessica...I used the Boho Blossoms flower punch! It's a great punch and I use it for many things! I know where you can get one if you don't already have a demonstrator! Have a great day!
