Peaceful Poinsettia

Good Morning friends and fellow paper crafters!  How's your Friday looking so far?  I hope you find a little bit of time to CREATE today!  I've had a busy morning...spin class, Kate to school with her cupcakes, Adam to school...going to his first football game (he's playing this year), shale and rock delivered for our driveway and PARKING (YAY!), and gutters are being added to my new porch in front of my workshop!  It seems like there is always lots going on!

I'm super excited to play in my workshop today...a girlfriend just called to see if she can come over for a few hours!  What a treat!  I LOVE being out there with my music going, but it's ALWAYS more fun with a friend!

I have another Christmas card to share with you today!  I skipped right over fall to Christmas...don't worry...FALL IS COMING!!!

I've been wanting to try this colored pencil technique!  It isn't new, but I've NEVER tried it!  Yesterday I did!  Have you ever wanted to color on dark paper?  Well here's how!

First I cut a 3 3/4" X 5" piece of Basic Gray cardstock.  Using the Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set (in the Holiday Catalog) I stamped the floral image in VersaMark and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  Next I colored the image in using my WHITE watercolor pencil!  When finished I colored the flower and the berries with my Real Red and Cherry Cobbler watercolor pencils and the leaves with my Granny Apple Green watercolor pencil.  I think I pushed to hard because I can see the lines.  I'm gonna try again to color lightly and maybe color it two or three times....I don't like the lines...but I LOVE the look!  After coloring I stamped the sentiment (from the same stamp set) in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it using white embossing powder.  I added a few Glitter Enamel Dots and Red Rhinestones to finish it off!  My Basic Gray stamped image is matted onto a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock and then onto a 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" Real Red card base!  I really like the look...but I am gonna try to get rid of those lines!  I hope you'll give it a try when you have a chance!

Don't forget today is the last day to earn $5 Bonus Codes to be used on purchases made in September!  It's also the last day to get the Color Your Season Bundle...DON'T MISS IT!!!

  1. This is a really beautiful card. I made it using your instructions and too had lines the first time. Not sure I can mass product for Christmas but loved the technique. Thanks for sharing.
